JESUS AND SALVATION
The origin of sin
Adam and Eve, through Satan’s temptation, disobeyed God. Their sin caused their very nature to change from being holy to being sinful, thus being called a sinful nature. Since then, all of their offspring, including us, have been born with this sinful nature. This sinful nature causes us to sin.
Salvation from sin comes in three phases: justification, sanctification, and glorification.
Justification: through Jesus’ death on the cross and his resurrection from the grave
Jesus’ death on the cross 1.) paid the price for our sins to be forgiven and our relationship with God to be restored; and 2.) it put our sinful nature, and our spirit, to death so the sinful nature would no longer have the power to cause us to sin. Jesus’ resurrection from the grave conquered Satan and death thus making it possible for us to be born again with a reborn spirit under the grace of God. Jesus’ baptism in the Holy Spirit unites our reborn spirit with his Spirit and makes us children of God’s family business, with power.
Sanctification: through obedience and submission to the Holy Spirit
After a person accepts Jesus as their Savior, they are to begin serving him as their Lord. Jesus is the king of God’s family business and is to be obeyed. He told his believers to love the Lord, love your neighbor, and to make disciples of all nations. This is a big business assignment that requires the help of the Holy Spirit. God’s family members will be with you every step of the way discipling you to help you become fruitful. We will help you learn how to grow God’s family business, using God’s resources, according to God’s plan. One of the benefits of obeying or submitting our minds to the Holy Spirit is that the Holy Spirit will progressively, little by little, put to death the power of the sin nature, that still remains in our physical bodies, so that our bad character traits die and God’s good character traits live so that we become more like Jesus; i.e. holy. Those who know you will recognize the difference as you become more fruitful in all that you do. We are to live our lives by obeying and submitting to God’s plan for the rest of our lives or until our retirement comes when we die or Jesus returns, whichever comes first.
Glorification: through Jesus’ return and the reception of our new bodies
When Jesus returns there will be a resurrection where we will receive our new bodies which will be ours for the rest of eternity, in our retirement years. These will be heavenly, spiritual, perfect bodies without any sin nature, that will feel no pain, and will last forever.
